"This is sooooo cool! This is my first time seeing Eugene Playback Theatre. I really like it. It's unique and the vibe of the room is like a community feeling. I love it!" Heather Shershun, Teen

"Something that always impresses me is the way the musician and all the actors listen to the undercurrents of the stories." Elaine Weiss, Event Coordinator

Eugene Playback Theatre offers a unique and inspiring form of improvisational theater that honors the stories of audience members. The stories are then brought to life by a team of actors, a conductor (facilitator), and a musician.

Watching one's story acted out on stage in front of an audience is an exhilarating, entertaining, and transformational experience. Created in New York in 1975, the Playback Theatre form is now practiced and taught internationally in over 25 different countries.

Playback Theatre is performed in a variety of settings such as conferences, festivals, hospitals, prisons, classrooms, and in public theaters. Schools, organizations, residential facilities, conferences, and special celebrations all benefit from the unique experience of Playback Theatre. Watching one's life story played back raises personal awareness as well as builds compassion and communication within a community.
